Late spring sessions in Raleigh always feel a little magical, and this one at the WRAL Azalea Gardens was no exception. This family has been with me since their pregnancy session, so getting to document yet another season of their lives — now with a growing little personality leading the way — felt especially meaningful.

The WRAL Azalea Gardens in Raleigh, NC are one of my favorite locations for spring and early summer family photos. The blooming azaleas, soft garden paths, and pockets of dreamy light create the perfect setting for relaxed, joyful portraits. Everything was in peak bloom for this session, giving us the prettiest pops of color while still letting their connection take center stage.

Because we’ve worked together for years, the session felt easy and natural from the start. The kids were free to explore, run, and just be themselves, while I focused on documenting the in-between moments — the snuggles, the laughter, and those quick glances parents give each other that say “I can’t believe how big they’re getting.”

That’s always my goal during family sessions: to create space for genuine interaction rather than stiff posing. Especially with returning clients, there’s a level of trust that allows everyone to relax, which results in images that feel true to this exact season of life. A little playful chaos, a lot of love, and memories that reflect their real dynamic right now.
